Why I Created ReceiptAnalyzer
I made ReceiptAnalyzer because I needed it myself. Tax time rolled around, and as a freelancer, I realized I had two years’ worth of receipts to enter manually. It was overwhelming — I had hundreds of them. The thought of sitting down for a week just to sort and log them was brutal.
I figured there had to be a smarter way. I thought, “Why not take pictures and feed them into an AI that organizes everything for me?” The idea sounded easy — the execution, not so much. But after trial and error, I created something that worked: a simple tool where you drag and drop receipts, and it spits out an Excel sheet with clean, categorized data. That tool is now ReceiptAnalyzer.net.
How I Use It — And How You Can Too
I take pictures of receipts on my iPhone and store them in a shared iCloud folder. From my computer, I just drag up to 12 receipts into ReceiptAnalyzer. In seconds, it generates a structured spreadsheet. I copy the content into my main Excel file for the year, and I’m done.
What used to take me a week now takes me about an hour. Honestly, most of the time is spent taking the photos — the rest is automatic. Now, every time I get a receipt I know I’ll need, I just snap a photo, mark it with a thumbnail \"F\" (for filed), and it's ready when tax time comes. It’s streamlined, effortless, and reliable.
Key Features
- Upload up to 12 receipts at once (PDF, JPG, PNG)
- Extracts store name, date, total, and items
- Instant Excel spreadsheet output
- Free and private — no sign-up required
Why It’s a Game Changer
Manual entry is stressful and slow. This tool changed everything for me. Now, what once felt like a mountain of tedious work is done in minutes — even faster if I keep up with it throughout the year. You don't need to install anything or know how it works. Just upload and go.
Who This Is For
- Freelancers and entrepreneurs who dread tax season
- Anyone with stacks of receipts piling up
- People who want a no-fuss, private solution
- You, if you want to stop manually typing receipts
What’s Next?
I plan to improve ReceiptAnalyzer with support for more files, better categorization, and even bank statement parsing. It’s free now because it was built out of necessity — but donations would help me expand it and lift the 12-receipt limit. Until then, it’s a simple, solid tool that saves you time and sanity.
